Amy Harvey Reese is a certified instructor of the Sogetsu School of Ikebana, the modern Japanese art of flower arranging that celebrates creativity, freedom, and personal expression. With a lifelong passion for blending art and nature, Amy brings the timeless practice of Ikebana into everyday life and makes it accessible to all.

Trained under Sensei Sheila Advani, Amy has devoted more than 16 years to studying the intricacies of Sogetsu Ikebana. She is a certified teacher and holds the rank of Third Degree. Amy is an active member of Ikebana International Washington, DC Chapter No. 1, the Sogetsu Washington, DC Branch, and the Garden Club of America. Her engaging classes encourage participants to discover their own artistic voice while learning the principles of balance, line, and space that define Sogetsu Ikebana. Known for her energy, warmth, and encouragement, she creates a learning environment that is both inspiring and approachable for beginners and experienced arrangers alike.

With a background as a triple major in History of Art, Anthropology, and History at Wellesley College and enriched by extensive travels exploring museums, gardens, and cultures worldwide, Amy brings a unique depth of perspective to her teaching. This global lens expands her ability to interpret and share Ikebana as both an art form and a cultural bridge.

In addition to teaching, Amy is a  presenter for garden clubs, cultural organizations, and art groups. Her dynamic demonstrations showcase the beauty of seasonal materials and the artistry of Sogetsu Ikebana in ways that captivate and inspire audiences.

From her studio in Annapolis, Maryland, Amy offers classes, workshops, and community events that bring people together through creativity and nature. The studio serves as both a learning space and a cultural hub, where students and visitors experience the harmony and innovation of Sogetsu Ikebana.

Whether you are beginning your Ikebana journey, looking to enrich your garden club’s programming, or seeking a fresh encounter with a timeless art, Amy invites you to join her in discovering the art of flowers, reimagined through Sogetsu Ikebana.
